#savelocalbees: COALITION FOR THE PROTECTION OF LOCAL BEES IN EUROPE

Environmental NGOs, local bee conservatories, nature organizations, researchers, supporters of traditional and sustainable beekeeping… All over Europe, we are working and campaigning for the protection of subspecies and local ecotypes of bees. We gathered under the motto #SaveLocalBees.

SICAMM was founded in 1995 at Flekkefjord, Norway by beekeepers and scientists from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, as an international association devoted to the protection of the European dark honeybee, Apis mellifera mellifera. Participation has since extended to most European countries.

The European Federation of Dark Bee Conservatories (Fédération européenne des conservatoires de l’abeille noire, FEdCAN) was created December 16th, 2015. Its purpose is to promote and preserve the endemic dark bee of Western Europe.
